About Me
I hold a Masters Degree in Urban Affairs and Public Policy with a concentration in Preservation Planning from the University of Delaware. Before joining the CC Planning Department as Heritage Preservation Coordinator, I worked to revitalize one of the oldest milling communities in the mid-Atlantic; Brandywine Village in Wilmington, Delaware. This concentration stirred my interest in the social and economic vitality of Chester County’s population centers that have their roots in industry. My thesis focused on the landscape of country houses extending north from Hagley Museum in Delaware to Route 926 in Pennsylvania.
Drawing upon my earlier background in education and communications (including launch of 2 television stations), I worked to enhance interpretation and heritage planning at Chester County’s five public parks, the Iron and Steel heritage region in northern Chester County and the Brandywine Battlefield National Landmark in southeastern Chester County. Retired, I am honored to serve on the Boards of the Chester County Historic Preservation Network, the Kennett Heritage Center, and the Kennett Underground Railroad Center.
This is my first book. I hope to inspire my generation to discover and share the stories that their parents and relatives experienced during the terrible years of World War II. In the words of a Vietnam Veteran I quote in my book, I want to honor "How ordinary people, did extraordinary things, to make the world ordinary again."
